The dashboard is "A quick look at what needs attention." Open it from **Dashboard** at the top of the sidebar. It is where most people land when they sign in; a volunteer with no other role lands on [My shifts](/shifts/my-shifts) instead. The dashboard is made of three widgets, in this order until you change it: | Widget | What it is for | | ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Quick search** | Finding a person or an animal without leaving the page. | | **Snapshot** | This month at a glance. | | **Agenda** | What is coming up in the next 14 days, and what is waiting on somebody. | Each widget shows only what your role can read. A widget, a count or a line for a workspace your role cannot read is left out, not shown as zero, so two people can see different dashboards. ## Quick search A box that reads "Quick search people or animals…". Type at least two characters and matches appear below it: up to five people, tagged **Person** with their email, and up to five animals, tagged **Animal** with their species. Click one to open it. People are matched on first name, last name and email. Animals are matched on name, breed, microchip number and ID. The widget searches people only if your role can read People, and animals only if it can read Animals. With neither, it does not appear. To jump to a page as well as a record, use search in the header instead. See [Search](/getting-started/finding-your-way#search). ## Snapshot Up to four counts. Each appears only if your role can read the workspace it comes from. | Count | What it counts | | ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | **Animals in care** | Every animal whose status is marked **In care** in **Settings → Animal management → Animal statuses**. The statuses you start with count **Waitlist** and **Pending Intake** as in care, so those animals are counted even though they have not arrived yet. | | **Raised this month** | The total of donations with the status **Completed**, dated from the first of this month. Pending, failed and refunded donations are not included. | | **Volunteer hours this month** | The hours logged on volunteer shifts that ended on or after the first of this month, whether or not they have been signed off yet. | | **Open registry flags** | The safety flags your rescue has submitted that are still waiting for other rescues to corroborate them. Shown as **100+** when there are more than 100. | Each count comes from Animals, Fundraising, Shifts and Public Registry respectively. Each line has a tag saying what kind of thing it is, a title, a detail, and on the right the date it is due or **Ongoing**. Click a line to go to it. | Tag | What puts it on the agenda | Where the line goes | | ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ | | **Shift** | An open shift starting in the next 14 days that still has places nobody has taken. It reads **Volunteer shift understaffed**, with how many places are open out of how many. A cancelled booking counts as an open place. | [Shifts](/shifts/shifts) | | **Event** | A schedule in Shifts that is scheduled to start in the next 14 days. It shows the campaign's name and **Campaign ending soon**, with how much of its goal it has reached when it has one. | The campaign. See [Donations](/fundraising/donations). | | **Flag** | A safety flag your rescue submitted that is still waiting to be corroborated. It names the kind of flag followed by **flag pending review**, with its severity. | The flag. See [Flags](/registry/flags). | | **Duplicate** | A group of people who look like the same person. It reads **possible duplicate contacts**, with how many and what they were matched by. | [Duplicates](/people/duplicates) | Shifts and events need your role to read Shifts; campaigns and donations need Fundraising; flags need Public Registry; duplicates need People. If your role reads none of these, the agenda does not appear. ### The order of the list Donations, flags and duplicates have no due date, and show **Ongoing**. They come first, oldest first, because the longer something has been waiting the more it needs doing. Everything with a date follows, soonest first. When nothing needs attention, the agenda says **Nothing needs attention right now.** ## Customize You can put the widgets in the order you want and hide the ones you do not use. The arrangement is yours alone: nobody else's dashboard changes, and yours looks the same on every browser and device you sign in on. Press **Customize** at the top right of the dashboard. A panel lists every widget with a short description of each. Drag a widget up or down the list, or use its up and down arrows. Press the eye beside a widget to hide it. Press it again to bring it back. Press **Done**. There is no save button: each change is saved as you make it. If a change cannot be saved, the panel says **Couldn't save that.** **Reset** puts every widget back in its original order and shows them all again. Hiding a widget only tidies your own screen. It does not change what you can see anywhere else, and a widget you cannot use because of your role stays empty whether it is hidden or not. If you hide every widget, the dashboard says so and points you back to **Customize**. When RescueConsole adds a new widget, it appears at the end of your dashboard, even if you have customized it before.
