# Google Chat

> Ask the rescue from Google Chat, and get your own notifications there.

The Google Chat app is the same bot as the [Slack](/integrations/slack) one, for a rescue whose team uses Google Workspace. Once it is connected:

* **Ask it** in a direct message with the app, or with `/rescue` in a space: an animal, your tasks, who is on shift, what is waiting. It answers as you, and in a space only you see the answer.
* **Your notifications**, in your direct message with the app, for each person who turns it on.

## Connect it

    In RescueConsole, open **Settings → Advanced & security → Integrations**. Under **Google Chat**, press **Take a code**. Only an organization admin can. It works once, for fifteen minutes.

    In Google Chat, start a chat with the **RescueConsole** app and send `connect` and the code, for example `connect K7QX2MPA`. The app says which rescue it now answers for.

A Google Workspace answers for one rescue. The app works for people with a Google Workspace account, not a personal Gmail one.

## Ask it

| `shifts` | Who is booked on a shift today. |
| `waiting` | Applications waiting for an answer: received, or being reviewed. |

It knows who you are by your Google Workspace email address, which must be the one you sign in to RescueConsole with, and it answers with your own role: see [who is asking](/integrations/slack#who-is-asking).

## Your notifications in Google Chat

On **My account**, tick **Send my notifications to me in Google Chat**. It is off until you turn it on. The app sends them to your direct message with it, so send it a message first ("help" will do) if you never have.

## Disconnect

Press **Disconnect** on the Integrations page. The app stops answering for your rescue and nobody gets notifications there.

## The demo

The demo cannot be connected to Google Chat: everybody shares its sign-in, and the app would answer for the demo in a real Workspace.
