# Activity

> Every change to every record you can see, newest first, and how to narrow it down.

Open **Settings → Advanced & security → Activity** to see recent changes across every record you can see: what was added, what was edited, what was deleted. It is where to look when you need to know what happened to a record, such as the dog that is no longer on the list. The count beside the title is how many changes match your filters.

Every member can open it. Each change is shown only if your role can **See** the workspace it belongs to, so two people can look at this page and see different lists.

## Each change

Changes are listed newest first, 50 to a page. Each one shows:

* **What was done**: create, update, delete or state change.
* **The kind of record**: an animal, a person, a donation, a campaign and so on. An animal, a person, a donation or a campaign is a link to that record.
* **The workspace** it belongs to and **when** it happened, as a date and a time in UTC.

For an **update**, the fields that changed are listed with the value before and after, such as `name: "Max" → "Maxwell"`. Values are shown exactly as stored, in quotes, so an empty value (`""`) and no value (`null`) can be told apart.

For a **create** or a **delete**, you can open **The record as created** or **The record as it was** to see every field of the record at that moment. This is shown only for workspaces where your role has **Configure**. On a record's own history the same detail is shown to anyone who can see the record.

## Filters

The panel beside the list narrows it. The number beside each choice is how many changes it would show.

| Filter        | What it narrows to                                                                                                                    |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **When**      | **Last 24 hours**, **Last 7 days**, **Last 30 days** or **Last 90 days**. These overlap, so their numbers do not add up to the total. |
| **Workspace** | One workspace you can see: Animals, People, Fundraising and so on.                                                                    |
| **Action**    | create, update, delete or state change.                                                                                               |
| **Record**    | One kind of record, from the kinds your organization actually has.                                                                    |

**Clear filters** removes them all.

## Saved views

Under **Views**, press **+ Save current view**, give it a **View name** and press **Save** to keep the filters you have chosen. Press a view's name to apply it again. A view saved with **When** set keeps meaning the same thing: **Last 7 days** is always the last seven days from today.

## Undoing a change

Activity shows what changed; it does not undo a change or bring back a deleted record. To put something back, open the record and enter the old value from the change, or, for a deleted record, add it again from **The record as it was**.
