Our organization is your own rescue’s record, in the same workspace as the directory of everyone you deal with. Reach it with Our organization at the top of the organizations list, or by typing its name into the search palette. It needs See on Organizations. Your rescue is not an entry in its own directory. This page reads your organization’s settings directly, so there is only ever one copy of who you are and where you are.

What the page shows

Your name, logo, description and public contact details are not edited here. The page links to Settings → Organization, which opens General profile in Settings, beside the branding and site settings that use them.

Locations

The places your rescue operates from: a shelter, an adoption centre, a thrift store, an office, a mailing address. This is the same list as Settings → Organization → Locations, and it can be edited on either page: a change made on one shows on the other. These are not kennels, rooms or foster homes. Those are where animals are kept, and live under Animals: see housing. Adding, editing, retiring and removing locations needs the Organization admin role. Everyone else sees the list.

Your main location

One location is marked Main location. The first one you add becomes the main one. Its address is the one that appears on your public page and on adoption flyers, and the page says so under it. Make main moves the mark to another location; a retired location cannot be the main one.

What each location shows

Each location shows its name, its kind, the location it is part of (inside another), its address, its hours and how to find it. It also says, in words, whether it is Shown on your public page or Not shown publicly. Show on public page and Hide from public page switch this without opening the form. Every active location also appears as a site on your housing map, so animals can be placed there. Its Housing is shown under it: see housing.

Adding a location

Press Add a location, fill in the form, and press Add location.
Leave Show this on our public page off for an address that must stay private, such as a volunteer’s home. It is off for every new location.

Retiring and removing a location

  • Retire hides a location you no longer use but that records still point to, such as a site where contracts were signed. Retired locations are hidden from the list; an Organization admin can tick Show retired beside Add a location to see them, and press Restore to bring one back. The main location cannot be retired: make another one main first.
  • Remove deletes a location, after you confirm, and cannot be undone. It is not available on the main location. A location that has other locations inside it cannot be removed until they are moved or removed.
When a location is retired or removed, its site on the housing map is retired, not deleted, so animals recorded there keep their history.
