The calendar shows “Everything dated across the modules you can see: medical due dates, shifts, arrivals, adoptions and tasks.” Open Calendar in the sidebar. Nothing is added to the calendar directly. Each item comes from a record somewhere else in RescueConsole, such as a task’s due date or a medical item’s due date, and changes when that record changes. What you see depends on your role: items from a workspace your role cannot read are left out, and so are their filters.

Views

Choose a view with the buttons at the top right: Month, Week, Day, Agenda or Staff. Weeks run Sunday to Saturday. The arrows beside the date move back or forward a month, a week or a day, depending on the view. Today comes back to the present.

Hour grid or list

Week and Day can be shown two ways, chosen with the two buttons beside the views:
  • Hour grid: timed items as boxes against the hours of the day, so you can see what overlaps. Items at the same time sit side by side. The grid runs from 7 AM to 7 PM, and stretches to fit anything earlier or later. Items with no time, such as a vaccination due that day, sit in an All day band above the grid.
  • List: each day’s items in order. In Day, all-day items are under All day and timed ones under Through the day.
On a phone, the list is easier to read.

Staff

Staff answers “who is covering what this week”. Each person gets a card listing the items they are on, with the day and time of each. Only items that can have somebody on them are here: shifts (the people booked on them), tasks (the person each is for) and meet and greets (the people meeting the applicant). A medical due date or an arrival is about an animal, not a person, so it is left out. Nobody yet comes last: “Shifts and tasks nobody has taken on yet.” It is the list to work through when filling gaps.

What appears on the calendar

Each item shows its title and, where there is one, its time. Point at an item in Month or the week list to see its detail line; in the other lists the detail is shown under the title, with where the item came from on the right. Click an item to open what it is about, as the table says. Tasks appear for everyone, narrowed to the tasks you can see. Medical due, Meet & greets, Adoptions, Arrivals, Into foster and Out of foster need your role to read Animals. Shifts and Schedules need it to read Shifts.

Colors and states

Each item has a state, shown by its color: A timed item appears on the day and at the time it falls where you are.

Filters

Above the calendar, In view counts the items the calendar is showing, and Overdue counts the ones that are overdue. Beside it are two filters, each with counts. You can choose more than one option in each:
  • Source: which kinds of item to show, from the table above. Only the kinds your role can read are offered.
  • State: Overdue, Due, Scheduled, Done or Cancelled.
Press Clear beside a filter to show everything again.
There is no Source option for meet and greets. They show when no source is chosen, and are hidden as soon as you choose one.

When part of the calendar cannot load

If one part of RescueConsole cannot be reached, the calendar says so above the view: “Couldn’t load” and the part, then “Anything from it is missing from this view.” The Overdue count and the filter counts for what could not be loaded show a dash rather than a zero, because a zero would say nothing is due. Reload the page to try again. The calendar cannot be subscribed to from another calendar app.
