Basic information
Name, external name, species, breed or kind, colours, pattern, coat length, energy level, previous ID and distinguishing marks.Breed, or Kind
For a dog, a cat, a rabbit or an equine, the field reads Breed. For a small mammal, a large mammal, a bird, a barnyard animal, a fish, a reptile or an exotic, the same field reads Kind, because the list says what the animal is: a ferret, a guinea pig, a cockatiel, a gecko. A second box, Breed or variety, sits beside it for the detail: an Abyssinian guinea pig, a Pekin duck. The two are shown together wherever the animal is described: “Guinea pig, Abyssinian”. Every species starts with a list of common breeds or kinds. The list is yours: add, rename and remove under Settings → Animal management → Breeds. It is a picker, not a rule, and Other… always lets you type something that is not on it.External name
The name printed and shown on your public site, the API and listing sites. Leave it blank to use the internal name everywhere.What this home needs
Answers your team gives about the home this animal needs. Every answer has three states: Yes, No, and Not assessed. Not assessed is a real answer, different from no, and it is never sent anywhere as a no.
These answers are checked against every adoption application that names this animal, and anything left not assessed shows there as an open question rather than a pass.
They are not shown on your own public listing. A listing site you send your animals to, such as Adopt-a-Pet, is given the ones it asks for.
Medical summary
On the Medical tab. Spay or neuter, with when, where and by whom; and, at a glance, the latest weight, results awaited, what is due or overdue, active medications and diagnoses on file. For a cat, the summary also keeps:- Declawed: Yes, No, or Not recorded.
- FIV: Positive, Negative, or Not tested.
