How Settings is organized

Settings is where your organization decides how RescueConsole works for it: the lists an animal is described with, who has access, what fees are charged, how mail is sent. Each setting is a page of its own, listed in a sidebar down the left of Settings, grouped by the errand you arrive with.

Who can open Settings

Settings is the last row of the main sidebar, under Administration. It appears for anyone whose role has Configure on People, Animals, Fundraising or Shifts. Among the built-in roles, that is the Organization admin, Director, Shelter manager, Veterinarian and Volunteer coordinator. Roles and their permissions are explained in Team roles. Opening Settings is not the same as being able to change everything in it. Each page says who can change it, and some organization-wide pages belong to the Organization admin alone. Settings opens on General profile, which is one of those: anyone else is told so, and can pick another row. Everybody, whatever their role, reaches their own account from My account at the top of every page. Several Settings pages can also be found by name in the search palette. See Finding your way.

Organization and You

At the top of the Settings sidebar are two buttons:

Organization shows the settings for the whole rescue. A change there affects everybody.
You shows Profile & password, which affects only you.

Each group in the sidebar opens and closes with its heading. The group holding the page you are on is always open, and which other groups you leave open is remembered on this device. On a phone, the whole sidebar folds behind a button that names the page you are on.

Organization

Row	What it is for
General profile	Your organization’s name, logo, contact details, locale, social links and tax details.
Locations	The places you operate from, which one is your main address, which are shown publicly, and the housing built at each.
Public page	What the world sees, and how to put it on your own website.
Partner rescues	The rescues you transfer animals with.

Team and volunteers

Shown in the sidebar as Team & volunteers.

Row	What it is for
Team members	Who has access to this organization: inviting people, changing their roles and removing them.
Team roles	What each role can see, change and configure, and roles of your own.
Volunteer roles	The jobs volunteers sign up for. A role has to exist here before a shift can ask for it.
Volunteer rules	Limits on how volunteers sign themselves up.

Animal management

Row	What it is for
Species	The animal types your organization works with.
Breeds	The breeds, or kinds, intake offers for each species.
Age groups	What counts as a kitten, an adult or a senior, for each species.
Animal statuses	The statuses an animal can have, and what each one does.
Application stages	The steps an adoption or foster application moves through before a decision.
Behaviour	The behavioral traits your records use, and where each may be shown.
Medical	The diagnoses, tests, vaccines, treatments, procedures and medications an animal’s medical records pick from.

Finance and adoption

Shown in the sidebar as Finance & adoption.

Row	What it is for
Adoption fees	The fee schedule that suggests each animal’s adoption fee, and the discounts taken off it.
Donation amounts	The one-click amounts offered when somebody records or makes a donation.
Payments	Taking donations and adoption fees online through your own Stripe account, and the other apps you are paid through.

Operations and forms

Shown in the sidebar as Operations & forms.

Row	What it is for
Cage cards	The card on the kennel door: what it shows, what it is printed on, and where its QR code goes.
ID format	How animal ID numbers are built, and when the count starts again.
Microchip registry	Whether your animals’ chip numbers are listed in RescueConsole’s own chip registry, and who a finder should call.
Forms	Public forms people fill in: applications, sign-ups, enquiries.
Workflows	Checklists your team follows, such as intake, onboarding and application review. Written once here, run on a record.
Contract templates	The agreements adopters and fosters sign.

Communications

Row	What it is for
Inboxes	The addresses this organization receives mail at, and who can read each one.
Sending	The address your emails come from, and where replies go.
Message templates	Saved messages, each with a name and a subject, to start an email from.

Data and customization

Shown in the sidebar as Data & customization.

Row	What it is for
Custom fields	Extra fields your team can fill in on a record.
Record layouts	Which fields your staff forms show, in what order, and which of them are required.
Import	Bringing a spreadsheet across. Nothing is created until you have seen exactly what it will do.
Export	Taking your data with you. Every file is a CSV of what you can already see.

Advanced and security

Shown in the sidebar as Advanced & security.

Row	What it is for
Activity	Recent changes across every record you can see.
Communications log	Every message sent or received for your organization.
Settings history	Every change to this organization’s settings: who made it, when, and what they sent.
API keys	For reaching your data from something that is not a browser: a script, a spreadsheet, your website.
Webhooks	Telling another system each time something here changes: an animal adopted, a person added, a donation logged.
Integrations	Other systems your rescue exchanges records with.
Support access	Whether RescueConsole staff can open your account to help with a problem.

Your account

Shown when you choose You at the top of the Settings sidebar.
