This page says who your organization’s email comes from and where the answers go, and lets you send from your own domain instead of RescueConsole’s. Open it from Settings → Communications → Sending. The page is called Sending: “The address your emails come from, and where replies go.” Anyone who can See Communications can read Right now. Send from your own address and Tracking appear only to people who can Configure Communications.

Right now

A reply in the inbox, or a message from Compose, answers to the inbox it was sent from instead, so the answers come back to that conversation. See Inboxes for the default inbox. Until you set up your own domain, you send on the shared RescueConsole domain. It works from the first day and needs no setup, and answers still come back to your own inbox here. Sending from your own domain helps your mail reach people’s inboxes and puts your own address on the From line.

When sending is paused

When Right now says Outbound email is paused., no email leaves your organization: not replies, not new messages, not a workflow’s mail. The reason follows: RescueConsole does not fall back to the shared domain while your own is waiting, because that would put its address on your mail without you choosing it.

Send from your own address

Two ways, chosen with the buttons at the top of the card:
  • Use my domain: for a domain you control, such as contoso.com. Mail comes from an address at your domain.
  • Just one address: for an address on a domain you do not control, such as a Gmail or Outlook address. No DNS changes.
Choosing either one pauses all outgoing email until it is verified. Claim a domain when you are ready to add its records the same day, and confirm a single address straight away.

Verifying your domain

1

Claim the domain

Under Use my domain, type it into Your domain (just the domain, for example contoso.com) and press Claim domain.
2

Add the records

Under Add these records is a table of Type, Name and Value, with a copy button beside each. Add each one to your domain’s DNS, usually where you bought the domain. Copy the values rather than typing them.
3

Press Check records now

The page shows the result, and when it last checked.
The records are listed in this order, and each has a job: Your domain is verified when the return path and DKIM records are both found. Change domain claims a different one; the new domain has to be verified before mail flows again.

Verifying a single address

1

Enter the address

Under Just one address, type it into Your address and press Send confirmation.
2

Click the link

Open that address’s mailbox and click the link in the confirmation email.
3

Press I have clicked the link

The page checks, and shows Verified once the link has been clicked.
Change address starts again with a different one.

Tracking

Both are on until you turn them off. They apply to every email your organization sends. Both change what the recipient receives, which is why they are yours to turn off.
