Open Settings → Data & customization → Export to take your data with you, for a backup, a report, or a move to another system. Every export is a plain CSV file you can open in any spreadsheet program. Each row of the page is one file. Press Download CSV beside it; the button reads Preparing… while the file is made, and the file then downloads. If it does not come through, the row says so and you can press the button again.

What you can export

Each file holds up to 5,000 rows. Deleted animals and deleted people are not included.

Who can export

Anyone who can see a workspace can export it: exporting is reading, and every row in the file is one you could already open. Each export is listed only if your role has See on its workspace: Animals, People, Fundraising for donations, Shifts for volunteer hours and events, and Organizations. When some are missing, the page says Some exports aren’t listed because your role doesn’t include those modules. Volunteer hours holds everybody’s hours only if you can also see People. Otherwise the file holds your own hours.

The columns in each file

The first line of every file names its columns. Amounts are in cents: 2500 in amount_cents or adoption_fee_cents is $25.00. In the volunteer hours file, somebody who came along on a volunteer’s shift has a row of their own, with attending_as saying how they came; the volunteer’s own row says primary.

Exporting part of a list

This page always exports everything you can see. The animals list, the people list and donations can also export from the list itself, and there the file holds only the rows your filters show. Bringing data in instead? See Import.
